ABOUT

Thirty years of legal experience in the private, public and non-profit sectors.

I am a Victoria based lawyer and mediator with 30 years of experience in the private, public and non-profit sectors. I have a longstanding interest and many years of experience in working to make the justice system more accessible and user friendly.

My experience gives me the skills and knowledge to help you navigate the legal process to achieve fair outcomes for you and your family.

I am certified as a mediator by the Law Society of BC .

I offer unbundled services, which means that I will help you with discrete steps in the resolution of your case.

I completed my law degree at the University of Victoria in 1986 and starting practicing criminal law, before moving to the non-profit sector. I spent a number years working in government and as a private consultant on access to justice and law reform projects. I’ve been involved in the development of family law legislation and court rules, as well as alternative dispute resolution processes.

Providing clearly written and easily accessible legal information about family law for the public has been one focus of my work for the past six years. I am the legal reviewer and a writer for the Legal Services Society Family Justice website, BC’s main family law website. Some of the helpful family law resources I have worked are listed here.

My approach to practicing family law is grounded in my many years of working on access to justice initiatives. For more information about that part of my work go here.

I have lived in Victoria for most of the past 35 years and am involved in the community. I have served on the boards of the Victoria Youth Empowerment Society, Mediate BC,  and the Victoria Foundation’s Community Grant Committee. I have been a regular volunteer with the Victoria Hospice Palliative Care Unit.
